Although the soup is named after Manchuria it does not resemble any that is normally found in the cuisines of the region. The origin of Manchow soup is Meghalaya. It is a dark brown soup prepared with various vegetables. Serve manchow soup as a starter with any Indo Chinese main course like hakka noodles or veg noodles or veg fried rice or burnt garlic fried rice or singapore fried rice.

Instructions to make Manchow soup:
  1. Heat 1 tbsp oil and add chopped capsicum,chopped carrot, cabbage and shredded boiled chicken saute until cooked but still crunchy, for approx 2 mins. Keep this aside in plate.
  2. In deep pot, heat 1 tbsp oil add finely chopped ginger and garlic,saute for 1- 2 mins,add soya sauce,red chilli sauce, vinegar, black pepper powder, salt, tomato ketchup, sugar and red color. Add chicken stock and water cook well.
  3. When soup starts boiling, add cornflour-water mixture and mix well and add sauted vegs and chicken and mix well.
  4. Lastly, beat an egg and slowly pour into the soup.Cook for 2-3 mins. Garnish with green onion. Serve hot with fried noodles.
